BORA HANSGROHE

-

Bora used to struggle at the Tour. As a wildcard team it had to rely mainly on the breaks for a chance of success, and has yet to win a stage. That’s likely to change in 2017 as it increased sponsorship, got a WorldTour licence and signed Peter

Sagan. The Slovak is as famous for placing in Tour stages as winning them, but Bora has put down a solid option for taking the green jersey, which has been Sagan’s personal property since 2012. It may also have designs on the GC. Rafa¯ Majka has won three mountain stages and two KoM jerseys in the last three years, riding for Tinkoff. He could repeat that, but he is capable of a top-five finish. While he’s always ignored the GC in France, he’s finished seventh, sixth and fifth at the Giro and third at the Vuelta.

TOUR PALMARÈS

It’s been a quiet three years at the Tour for Bora, though it enjoyed a strong performance in 2014 as NetApp-Endura, when Leopold König rode to seventh overall. Its best since has been Emanuel Buchman’s third in a single stage in 2015 and his 21st on GC last year.
