FORTUNEO OSCARO

-

Fortune was not with the Brittany-based French squad in 2016. Injuries in the run-up to the Tour heaped pressure on the shoulders of the young sprinter, Dan McLay. His third place on the stage to Montauban was the team’s best result and an impressive exploit given the level of the opposition. That and three other top 10s mean he is a sure-fire selection if he’s injury-free. Elsewhere, the squad will look to do what it does well and get in breaks; last year the team managed to place riders in the main escape on 11 stages, though it’s fair to say they didn’t look like winning a stage this way. It only has one rider with a Grand Tour stage win to his name: Brice Feillu, then riding for Agritubel, at Arcalis in 2009.

TOUR PALMARÈS

Fortuneo doesn’t have the inancial irepower to hire either an overall contender or a top-level sprinter, although Dan McLay acquitted himself well in 2016. Best GC so far: a not-bad-at-all and stealthy 16th place for Brice Feillu in 2014.
