LOTTO NL JUMBO

-

The long-running Dutch team comes loaded with three outside threats for the overall, though a GC top 10 would be a success. Robert Gesink is the most Tour-proven rider, having taken fifth in 2010 and sixth two years ago, though his 2017 form doesn’t suggest a repeat of either result and he’s stated that he’s more interested in the role of stage hunter, rather than obsessing over every second in the GC. Joining him are New Zealander George Bennett and Slovenian Primo Roglic, and both men have made big stage racing strides in the past year. Bennett’s top-10 finish at the Vuelta and GC win in California mean he’s slightly more proven at this level. Sprinter Dylan Groenewegen should break into the top three in some of the sprints.

TOUR PALMARÈS

The Dutch squad’s last stage win might have been three years ago, but no other team has won more stages in its history. LottoNL’s longevity means 47 stage wins, plus a green jersey for Jean-Paul Van Poppel in 1987 and Óscar Freire in 2008.
