Andrew Talansky broke Cannondale-Drapac's two-year wait for a win at WorldTour level a week earlier, but Pierre Rolland's magni icent solo e fort in the Giro was a good deal more prestigious – and it also broke his own two-year win drought. The French rider attacked on the first climb of the day, endured a number of variations at the head of the race and attacked on his own in the final 6km.
