2006
One win. As an U23 riding for Team Sparkasse, Cavendish’s "irst .1-ranked victory comes at the Course de Solidarnosc et des Champions Olympiques on stage 3.
2007
11 wins. Signs for T!Mobile and his "irst victory comes at Scheldeprijs. Also takes his "irst ProTour-ranked wins, two stages at the Volta a Catalunya and one more at the Eneco Tour.
2008
17 wins. doesn’t win until April, but is then unstoppable, and takes his "irst GT stages: two at the Giro are followed by four at the Tour, though he misses out at the Olympics in the Madison.
2009
23 wins. Best year ever? A spectacular win at San Remo is followed by three Giro stage wins and an astonishing six at the Tour. Wins at least one race a month between February and September.
2010
11 wins. A slow start, with no wins until Catalunya but takes another ive Tour stage wins, then three at the Vuelta a España en route to his irst points jersey win a grand tour.
2011
12 wins. Takes two Giro stages, then ive at the Tour, which contribute to his only victory so far in the French race’s green jersey classi ication. Caps the season with a RR rainbow jersey in Denmark.
2012
15 wins. Signs for Sky and starts the year strongly. Takes a win in KuurneBrussels-Kuurne, three Giro stages and three at the Tour, but lacks support from Sky which is focused on the GC.
2013
19 wins. Joins OPQS and by early February has won six races. Wins ive Giro stages and the points jersey but struggles comparatively at the Tour against Kittel, winning two stages.
2014
11 wins. His wins total is healthy, but in crashing out of the Tour on stage 1, 2014 is his irst year without a GT stage win since 2007. His highlights are stages in Tirreno and Tour de Suisse.
2015
14 wins. Very strong in the early season, with wins at San Luis, Dubai, Almeria and Kuurne, plus three Turkey stages and four at California. Only wins one Tour stage, as Greipel dominates the sprints.
2016
10 wins. He wins Madison Gold with Wiggins at the track worlds, takes four Tour stages and spends a day in yellow. He then takes silver in the Olympic omnium and World RR champs.
2017
One win. It was a year to forget: a stage win at the Dubai Tour is promising but he is hit by a bout of glandular fever in March. He recovers in time for the Tour but crashes out on stage 4 into Vittel.
2018
One win (so far). Cavendish hits his stride early, winning a stage of the Dubai Tour, but a freak accident involving an in-race car causes him to crash out of the Abu Dhabi Tour on stage 1.
