Joins the WorldTour at 21 with HTC!High Road. Wins six races including two Dauphiné stages – one on an uphill "inish, one from a sprint - plus EschbornFrankfurt and a Bayern Rundfahrt stage. Joins Argos-Shimano and scores his biggest haul of wins so far, with 12. Wins a debut GT stage at the Vuelta on stage 2, which snowballs into "ive by the end of the race. Fifth in Milan-San Remo. Wins his "irst Giro stage, as he avoids a "inal-km crash to win in Matera. Works as a lead-out man for team-mate Marcel Kittel for his four Tour stage wins and closes the year with a win at Paris-Tours.
Beats Sagan and Démare to win his irst big Classic at Gent-Wevelgem, and is runner-up in Paris-Roubaix. Adds another four Vuelta stage wins and the points jersey. Takes 10 wins in total. Wins the irst of two monuments at Milan-San Remo. Follows it a month later with victory in Paris-Roubaix, becoming the irst rider since Sean Kelly in 1986 to do that double.
