BALOISE BELGIUM TOUR

Stage 4, Seraing, Belgium

-

The peloton huddle keenly behind car number one, as race director Rob Discart prepares to drop the flag and get stage 4 underway at the 2019 Baloise Belgium Tour. The 150km route looped around the Ardennes countryside, and included famous Liège–Bastogne–Liège climbs like La Redoute and the Côte de la Roche-aux-Faucons. Race leader Remco Evenepoel is lurking behind the car, alongside his rivals on GC, Tim Wellens and Victor Campenaerts. Campanaerts would end up winning the stage after escaping up the road with Evenepoel and Andreas Kron, becoming the third Belgian stage winner in a row. The victory was the first ever road stage victory for the time trial specialist and hour record holder, after he was effectively led out by Evenepoel. Danish rider Kron managed to hang on in the break with the WorldTour duo, but could not beat the Belgians in the sprint. Evenepoel gained more than a minute on Wellens, effectively winning him the overall title, ahead of the final pan-flat stage.
