Sean’s Kitchen, Adelaide

Yes, it’s in the casino but it’s a world apart; cut from 19thcentury bones, this impressive space has been reimagined as a New York-style grill. Chef Sean Connolly knows how to impress a crowd and the private dining space seating up to 18 is no exception. Raised above the main dining floor (you can see the crowds below through oneway glass but they can’t see you), it has an old-world atmosphere, thanks to an ornate curved ceiling. But the architectural chandelier, marble-topped sideboard and artistic black-andwhite portrait of the chef-patron himself create a mood that’s more modern-luxe boardroom. The food is solid if unsurprising, with offerings such as the signature South Australian lamb shoulder in licorice gravy and a similarly parochial wine list.
