The space race is in full swing and mathematician Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson) is rising through the ranks at NASA. She’s joined by aspiring engineer Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe) and computer whiz Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer). But it’s the ‘60s and they’re African-American women in a segregated state. This film is based on the true story of the “human computers” who overcame the odds to send the first American astronaut into orbit.
