1. If you’re looking for a hotel, 25hours (hotel.qantas.com. au/25hourszurichwest) is an excellent choice. It has vibrant colours, an authentic local flair and a homely atmosphere. The famous Zürich-based designer Alfredo Häberli is behind the look.

2. Soeder (soeder.ch) and Edition Populaire (edition populaire.ch) are excellent shops for accessories, clothes and knick-knacks. They give you a real sense of modern Swiss style. You are bound to find something exquisite here.

3. Old Crow (oldcrow.ch) is a wonderful place for a drink. The bar offers a huge menu of spirits; there are some 1600 options. The cocktails are great, too.

4. The Museum Rietberg (rietberg.ch) has a fascinating collection of Asian, African and American art.

5. One of my favourite things to do is go for a morning swim in the crystal-clear waters of Lake Zürich. You won’t see many tourists – only locals.
