Qantas

FROM THE CEO

- Alan Joyce CEO, Qantas

It’s been great to travel more in the past few months and see airport terminals bustling again. This is good news for our customers and employees.

Since the international border reopened in November, we’ve welcomed hundreds of thousands of passengers on board our overseas flights. We’ve already launched new routes from Sydney and Melbourne to Delhi, which have been very popular, and restarted flights to more than a dozen other destinations connecting five continents. Flights to Dallas-Fort Worth are back on our route map and, at the end of this month, we’ll restart international services from Brisbane, giving our customers more options to book that long-awaited overseas trip. We’re continuing to go the extra mile to make international travel as simple as possible but we’re already seeing some countries remove COVID testing requirements altogether.

If you’re looking to stay closer to home for your next holiday, Qantas and Jetstar have added more than 50 new domestic routes over the past two years, making it easier to explore Australia. The latest destination we’re adding to our route map is Broken Hill, with the first flight from Sydney scheduled to take off in early April. It’s the first time we’ve had scheduled flights to the iconic outback city in NSW’s Far West and we’re excited to be launching the route at a time when Australians are eager for new adventures. With its rich history and burgeoning cultural scene, we think it’s a fantastic addition to our domestic network.

This year, as Australia has learnt to live with COVID, we’ve seen almost all states and territories drop testing requirements and travel passes for domestic travel. This means travelling around the nation, bar Western Australia, is largely back to the way it was pre-pandemic.

Let me extend my thanks for your loyalty over the past two years. It’s great to be getting back to what we do best and ensuring our customers have a seamless experience travelling to their destination and coming home again.
