FAIR WARNING

- SUBMITTED BY DANIEL KLEIN

I recently visited a friend in hospice care who knew his time was at hand. He had kept his morale and sense of humour right to the end.

As I was getting ready to leave, I held his hand for a moment and thanked him for being a lifelong buddy. He smiled and said he would put in a “good word” for me.

When I expressed my gratitude, he replied, “Don’t thank me yet. I don’t know who I’ll be talking to.”
