Pandas living in captivity can grow about 40 years old. The cost of longevity is poor vision, worn teeth, inflexible limbs, and poor digestion. To give the old animals optimum conditions, China aims to build a nursing home offering cosy sleeping places, moderate exercise, and personalised food.
