Dark Energy May Not Exist

-

Who needs dark energy? Physicists have used computer simulations to question the existence of dark energy, which is believed to make up two thirds of the universe. According to existing theories, dark energy is the driving force behind the accelerating expansion of the universe.

Computer simulations show that the universe could expand without dark energy. According to the scientists behind the discovery, the ordinary visible matter of space is not evenly distributed, as previously believed. Instead, different universe regions are expanding at different speeds, depending on the distribution of material in them. The simulations show that without dark energy, the universe expands at the same pace as with it.
