CRISPR-y Pigs Will End The Organ Donation Crisis
Every day, hundreds of people die because they can't get a vital donor organ in time, but the US biotech company eGenesis intends to change that, aiming to use CRISPR to design pigs with human-compatible organs, which will not be rejected by our immune systems. Since 2015, company scientists have managed to edit out 62 pig genes, which would otherwise make the pig’s organs useless as donor organs.
