The hu­man brain has so many links be­tween cells, they can­not pos­si­bly be dis­played in one im­age. Yet two sci­en­tists have given it a try. Ti­tled, like a piece of art, as “Self Re­flected”, this 2.5 x 3.5

me­tre steel plate etch­ing shows the links be­tween brain cells as mi­cro­scopic grooves. The tini­est change in viewer's per­spec­tive will make the grooves re­flect light from spe­cific an­gles, and un­der a spot­light, the nerve links take turns to ap­pear, giv­ing a sense of how sig­nals travel through the brain.
