MODERN EGYPTIANS HAVE AFRICAN ORIGINS

Whereas ancient Egyptians were genetically highly unlike the peoples of Africa, the opposite is true for the present Egyptian population. Other DNA studies have shown a massive immigration from the south about 800 years ago, when particularly Muslim merchants and slave traders forged closer links between Northern and Southern Africa.
