Mini-Tunnels Give Building Balance

The southeastern corner of the Millennium Tower is sinking more slowly. By removing material beneath the foundation in the highlying corner, engineers can get the building back to the vertical. This method was used to slightly straighten up the Leaning Tower of Pisa, when the tower was at risk of toppling in the 1990s.
