Turbulence Makes Huge Aurora

-

Jupiter’s permanent polar lights are the strongest ones in the Solar system. So the astronomers believed that the polar lights are created in the same way as the strongest polar lights on Earth. They are not. Instead, the polar lights are created by turbulence, which only produces weak polar lights on Earth. The phenomenon gives extremely strong polar lights on Jupiter as the electric potential difference is 10-30 times bigger than on Earth.
