Atmosphere Made Of Displaced Layers
Jupiter is surrounded by transverse bands of clouds, but the astronomers have never seen through the cloud cover before, so they did not know what Juno would find. The observations revealed that the bands of clouds are created at least 400 km down and make up slightly displaced layers beneath the uppermost clouds.
Jupiter's surface
is covered by bands of clouds.
The bands of clouds
are created 400 km beneath the surface and whirl upwards in layers, which get displaced in relation to each other on their way up.
