3D-SCAN SHOWS THE HUMAN IN ALESI

-

Large molars1 ground the food

Alesi's molars are larger than in other members of the species. Humans have large molars, which are able to grind coarse food. This common characteristic led scientists to believe that Alesi is close to man's line in the evolution.

Narrow ear canals 2 balanced walk

Alesi has narrow, semi-circular ear

canals, which guide and coordinate the balance. Larger ear canals, e.g. in gibbons, enable the animal to move quickly and safely in trees, while humans have narrower ear canals.
