MICROWAVES BURN AWAY SWEAT GLANDS
Using a hand-held device, the doctor sends microwaves into the armpit, heating up the subcutis and burning away the sweat glands. In 2013, dermatologist Mark Lupin from University of British Columbia in Canada examined 31 profusely sweating people, who were given microwave treatment twice, at a three-month interval. One year after the treatment, the patients were sweating on average 84% less than before. The microwaves go through the upper layers of the skin, but are being stopped by fat in the subcutis, where the sweat glands are found. The microwaves interact with the fat and create a cold zone at the top and a warm zone at the bottom, where the sweat glands are burned away.
