Milky Way In­te­rior Swarms With Stars

For more than nine years, as­tronomers have been study­ing 10,000 stars near the cen­tre of the Milky Way to find out how the galaxy formed. This im­age cre­ated based on the Hub­ble tele­scope’s ar­chive shows that the galaxy's in­te­rior is packed with huge, old, red stars, smaller white stars, and small, young, blue stars.
