New black box to float on the water
As a result of the fruitless search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, Airbus has developed a new type of black box, which will be standard equipment in all new Airbus long distance planes from 2019. Over time, the box will be installed in all the European plane manufacturer's aircraft. If a plane crashes into water, the box will automatically be ejected from the tail fin to float on the water. All existing black boxes sink to the bottom. From the water surface, the box will send signals about its position for up to 90 days, which is three times the existing capacity.
