Re­us­able rocket re­turns to Earth

Fal­con 9 from SpaceX is the first ma­jor rocket to land safely on Earth again after launch. The space­craft is a two-stage rocket, of which one stage – the main sec­tion – can be reused. The im­age is a com­bi­na­tion of three dif­fer­ent pho­tos taken with long shut­ter speeds dur­ing launch, de­scent, and land­ing near Cape Canaveral, Florida. The fi­nal ver­sion of the Fal­con 9 rocket – Block 5 – was launched in May 2018. Its mis­sion was to carry the world’s largest com­mu­ni­ca­tion satel­lite of 7,076 kg into space.
