FROM EGG TO LADYBUG
In complete metamorphosis, the creature goes through a transformation, in which the adult develops based on the broken down materials of the past stage. First stage – egg. It is typically laid by an adult ladybug on a plant. Consequently, the larva has plenty of food, when it hatches.
Second stage –
larva. When the egg hatches, the next stage emerges: the larva. It is long and wormshaped, and its most important task is to eat to grow big.
Third stage –
pupa. When the larva has grown big, it pupates. The entire larva body is broken down, and the materials are used to build the adult insect's body from scratch.
Fourth stage –
adult insect. When the conversion is complete, the pupa cracks, and the complete, adult insect emerges. The ladybug is ready to repeat the process.
