ONSET OF SYMPTOMS

1. In the lead-up to this trip the diver suffered a cold and sinusitis. He suffered exhaustion due to the challengin­g conditions on day 3 and general tiredness, as well as a headache with shimmering lights prior to commencing the final dive and pain in the left ear and in the right shoulder, along with his faculties feeling a little dulled.

2. After surfacing from the final dive, he found it a little hard to breathe, shortly after was dizzy, felt nauseous and vomited. Numbness and tingling commenced in the right and left arms, plus joint pain in the right arms and legs, left ear discomfort (like water in the left ear canal), and the onset of severe vertigo.
