Man­grove forests se­quester ap­prox­i­mately 1.5 met­ric tons/hectare/year of car­bon • Man­groves pro­tect coasts from ero­sion and from vi­o­lent storms, and pro­vide a host of eco­nomic ben­e­fits and ecosys­tem ser­vices to hu­man com­mu­ni­ties
