Luminous Bells

On a foggy day offshore, a class of students attach strobe lights to their cameras and shoot macro on the sea floor.

While they exhale through the dull water column below, I begin to ascend at the same rate as their expanding air bells – moments before they shatter into a thousand bits of light.
