Fresh-faced web-slinger Tom Holland is the surprise pick to play relic hunter Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie. Based on the globe-plundering third person shooter, the film will steal inspiration from the third and fourth games, where you have a chance to play a younger incarnation of the rugged rogue. Doing a prequel was actually Holland’s idea: “It was a conversation I had with [Sony Pictures head] Tom Rothman,” he reveals to Yahoo Movies, “about the potential of different movies that I’d like to work with for Sony, and I had the idea that maybe a young Nathan Drake is something that audiences would be interested in. I met Shawn [Levy, director] at the MTV Awards and we had a brief chat about the potential of doing an origin story, rather than copying what the games have done, and it seems like people are really excited about it.”
