Once Upon a Time’s Elsa talks fairytales and Frozen

-

Did you model your performance on the film? I went to the movie to get things like her movements and gestures but I was more interested in figuring out what it was about Elsa that was attractive to people. I found it’s that Elsa is an outsider. I wanted to make sure I hooked into that so people would recognise that in my performance. Is it strange seeing kids dazzled when you wear full Elsa regalia? I love it because it’s such a transformation. I spend two hours in hair and make- up and become this magical woman that kids love to be around. And then I change back to me and I don’t get recognized as much. It really is about being in that blue dress. While looking for Anna, Elsa discovers the Snow Queen and they’re related… Yes! Elizabeth Mitchell plays the Snow Queen and we’ve had some interesting stuff to do where I know she is the enemy but she is the only family member other than Anna. Elizabeth is wonderful to work with because you never know what she’s going to do. She’s like a ticking bomb and fun to work with in that way. Are you getting any sense of whether winter will stay in Storybrooke? I feel like maybe if it was a different character, or a franchise that wasn’t so recent or valuable to Disney. Because they are making a sequel to Frozen, I’m not sure if they will let us hang onto the show. It has gone down so well with everyone but I feel there is a protectiveness around the characters. There have been rumours about a Frozen spin- off, but who knows! Tara Bennett Once Upon A Time season four is currently airing on ABC in the US.
