How Ridley Scott’s space- horror was remade in Rome
If you enjoyed Starcrash and fancy some more Cozzi- helmed carnage then take heed: the great man would take control of his very own Ridley Scott rip- off with Contamination ( 1980). In this one, a ship full of exploding extraterrestrial eggs lands in New York, promptly blowing up some lame- brain scientists who manage to prod them open ( anyone within the vicinity of them unexplainably explodes from the chest). The trail leads to Bogota, where a monstrous Alien Queen is revealed to be hiding. Only it doesn’t move. And looks a bit like a cardboard standee. In other words,
Contamination is trash- tastic – but probably only for acquired tastes…
