AGENTS OF CHANGE

The space mercenaries of Killjoys are back for a second season and a new set of threats…

-

Everything went to hell for our three bounty hunters in Killjoys’ season one finale. D’Avin ( Luke Macfarlane) was locked away in the mysterious Red 17 facility, while Dutch ( Hannah John- Kamen) and John ( Aaron Ashmore) watched helplessly as Old Town was destroyed by the Nine. Executive producer Michelle Lovretta promises plenty of mysteries will unfold as the characters attempt to move on.

“As we explore the origin stories of both Dutch and Khlyen ( Rob Stewart), and how they intersect, we realise increasingly a lot of what Khlyen has done has been his own twisted way of trying to protect Dutch,” explains Lovretta. “This season, there’s that core conflict of, ‘ I don’t know how to forgive you for the things that you’ve done, but I’m mature enough to also acknowledge the good you have done for me as well.’

“Johnny has become a little more entrenched in Old Town and the human collateral of what being a Killjoy is and their position in the Quad,” says Lovretta. “It starts John questioning what he stands for and whether he can stand entirely by Dutch and still be the man he wants to be.”

As for Old Town, Lovretta describes the atmosphere as “pretty freaking dark”.

“It’s a very different vibe than where we left off,” concludes Lovretta. “It has different rules to it and our people have to navigate that system all over again. We still have Pree ( Thom Allison), Alvis ( Morgan Kelly) and Pawter ( Sarah Power), so we have people that are emotionally attached to the well- being of Old Town. We can clearly tell that our Killjoys are as well and feel a bit of a debt. They were obviously involved in some of the shenanigans that led to these great ills.”

Killjoys season two airs this summer on Syfy.
