Lost may have ended in 2010 but that hasn’t stopped fans and critics from speculating over every obscure plot point and ambiguous character. nestor Carbonell’s ageless Richard Alpert quite literally flew off into the sunset in the finale, but the actor has since been busy appearing in films like
The Dark Knight and on the small screen in Bates Motel. That, however, doesn’t seem to have diminished his soft spot for his role as the 19th century Spanish Doctor who became the mysterious island’s Peter Pan.
Would you like to play Richard Alpert again?
I would love to play richard Alpert again, in a heartbeat. In fact I wouldn’t mind having a reunion – I don’t think that’s in the works but I think there’s life after the island for richard.
What would Richard be doing now?
I think he would be as lost off the island as he was on it! I don’t know that he’d be prepared for Los Angeles, having lived over 200 years on that island – although he did commute! He did get off the island. But now he’s not immortal so he’d have to be a little more careful about what he does.
Did you get souvenirs from the set?
I got a wig! I wanted to get the cross from Isabella, my wife, but sadly I couldn’t get that. But tremendous memories, that’s for sure, oh my god. The best experience of my life.
What would it say on Richard Alpert’s gravestone?
It would be some kind of ode to his wife, that’s all he lived for: “I’m finally with you, my love.”
