DAVOS SEAWORTH

-

(Season 2-present) davos is a popular character on the show. Is there any of your personality in there?

I wish I was as brave as Davos. Stannis sent him off to be killed and then when he went down to talk to him, Stannis said, “You don’t care much for your own life, do you?” And he said, “Not really.” And it’s not because he’s depressed. I think we should all try to be like Davos because even when it’s difficult, he doesn’t hide behind things just to make his life a little easier. I really like that he’s from incredibly humble beginnings, a small-time crook who came from the worst slum in King’s Landing, yet he has more nobility than the Lannisters and Martells and people who’ve had money all their lives. But you saying he’s popular? The way I look at it, Joffrey was a favourite, the person you wanted to hate, and when he came on screen you were like, “You fucking bastard!” It was the same when Ramsay showed up. You loved seeing them because you knew there was going to be fantastic drama.

Having made it so far, do you get competitive about making it to the end?

It’s nothing to do with competition – it’s because I love the show so much. But if the gods of George RR Martin, David Benioff and DB Weiss decide they’re going to wake up in bad humour one morning saying, “Let’s kill him,” I’d be gone.

What was it like pretending that Jon snow was staying dead?

I had to do a little bit of lying. But it’s funny… It’s the easiest trick in the world to pull off when you get it all the time. Eventually, when I’m feeling really naughty, I’ll just say, “I’m going to tell you!” And people go, “No! Don’t!” They want to know and they don’t want to know. richard edwards
