Call Your Girlfriend
Gaten matarazzo is Dustin
Where do we find Dustin this season?
Dustin is kind of disconnected from his usual group. It’s kind of upsetting, to viewers and to myself. I didn’t get to work with the kids as much, but it opened up an entire door for a world of opportunity for character development on my part. Which is so amazing, just to have those opportunities in this show.
We hear that Dustin’s got a girlfriend now...
Everybody wants to know – is Dustin’s girl real? It really is written very well in the script, and it just shows how much dedication the Duffer Brothers put into their characters. It shows how much the writers and directors really do try to give the fans what they want – in ways that people never would have imagined. So this season, Dustin has a girlfriend and it is pretty hysterical.
how do you think the audience will react to the characters having girlfriends and boyfriends?
The Duffer Brothers have this ability to capture such a sense of realism when it comes to character development and teenagers. Lucas and Max, Mike and Eleven, they have their problems in their relationship. But that’s all teen relationships and it’s their first one. They don’t really know what to do. Then there’s Will, who doesn’t really have any romantic connections. He feels disconnected from the people who do. I’ve felt that loneliness and it does hurt, so I really feel people are going to relate to Will. But I think what’s funny is that not a lot of people are gonna be able to relate to Dustin and his girlfriend...
What can viewers look forward to in season three?
It’s just a really well written season. There’s new villains and a whole new threat, and a lot of romancing with different characters. There’s new characters... and it’s nonstop action. Season three is gonna be awesome.
