Dreadful Old Movie

George Sluizer’s 1988 classic The Vanishing has just arrived on Blu-ray and DVD as part of StudioCanal’s Vintage World Cinema Collection. If you haven’t seen this, you must: it’s a deeply disturbing suspenser about a Dutch man’s desperate need to know what happened to his missing girlfriend. It was remade by Sluizer in 1993 with Jeff Bridges starring, but the original is best.
