Captain’s Log

-

The Boys are back, and it’s about f*ckin’ time. No, we couldn’t put that on the cover. I don’t know about you, but with each new launch that arrives now – be it streaming or print – I’m more grateful than I’ve ever been. Maybe I didn’t realise how much I took for granted a new batch of comics arriving every Wednesday, new films opening every Friday… So I’m very excited to get an all-new second season of The Boys and be able to lose myself in a different “what if” world.

Thinking about The Boys always reminds me of my first trip to San Diego Comic-Con last year – where I should’ve been in the last days of us putting this issue together. Genuinely, it was one of the best experiences of my life. Attending the launch event for the series in the custom-built outdoor area was pretty frickin’ cool. And then they sent me the incredible artwork you see above, me reimagined as one of the Supes by comic book artist John McCrea.

And there’s a whole new Star Trek series to boot! In typical 2020 fashion, it’s not the one we expected to see first, but with Discovery season three moving to later in the year, Lower Decks is here – hopefully we’ll have UK transmission details shortly. Trust me, the SFX schedule for the rest of the year is absolutely rammed – you won’t want to miss a single issue. So if you’re not already a subscriber, getting exclusive covers before they’re in the shops, now would be the ideal time to jump on board. Or gift a subscription to a friend. Spread the sci-fi love! It’s what we’ve been doing for 25 years, after all. See you in 30!
