DARREN SCOTT EDITOR RAVES

I’ve finally watched every episode of the Walking Dead franchises. Roll on the season 10 finale!

Delighted to have new, physical comic books back in my hands.

RANTS

It’s looking increasingly unlikely that flights to the US will happen anytime soon – and my annual pilgrimage to Halloween Horror Nights has been cancelled. Booo!

IAN BERRIMAN DEPUTY EDITOR RAVES

Finally caught up with Watchmen! Particularly liked how Cal’s matter-of-factness about death later made perfect sense.

Delighted that the Beeb’s 1981 version of The Day Of The Triffids is getting a Blu-ray release (7 September).

Been going through BFI Player’s free collections: the Gothic (bit.ly/gothicbfi) and sci-fi (bit.ly/scifibfi) ones are worth a look.

JONATHAN COATES ART EDITOR RAVES

Finally watched the fantastic first season of The Umbrella Academy. Here’s to season two and (hopefully) lots more dance numbers!

RANTS

Was excited about the re-release of Star Wars Pod Racer on Switch: a bit of late ’90s nostalgia but with revamped graphics, or so I imagined. Sadly it’s still got the same old N64 textures, so although speedy, it feels dated.

ED RICKETTS PRODUCTION EDITOR RAVES

This month I learned that the strands of hair on the prosthetic ear that Kyle MacLachlan finds in Blue Velvet came from David Lynch...

RANTS

New Utopia! Oh hang on, it’s just an American version. That’s just sacrilege.

RIP

John Saxon, star of many a cheesy ’70s flick – not to mention Enter The Dragon!

NICK SETCHFIELD EDITOR-AT-LARGE RAVES

If you love Close Encounters as much as

I do, check out Who Are You People? on Amazon Prime. Alabama locals share their memories of the time the Spielberg circus came to town. At least the ones who weren’t neuralysed do…

Podcast recommendation: ITC Entertained The World. Great gab about some TV classics.

TARA BENNETT US EDITOR RAVES

I’ve seen half of Lovecraft Country and it does for horror what Watchmen did for superheroes. Clever, unexpected and thoroughly engaging. One of my faves of 2020 TV.

RANTS

Giving Star Trek: Lower Decks time to find itself, but wasn’t expecting my ears to need a rest. Very shouty Trek.
