GAELIC RAILWAYS

Belmond’s train journeys open up the lush greenery of Ireland and Scotland with impeccable flair.

-

In 2016, summer in Ireland will not only be heralded by robins trilling in the trees, but also with the arrival of the all-new Belmond Grand Hibernian. The luxury sleeper train, complete with interiors from James Park Associates who were the same visionaries to deck the Northern Belle and Eastern & Oriental Express, will provide an overnight rail experience that is truly a first of its kind for this emerald isle, reinvigorating our wanderlust for all things Gaelic.

Whether you wish to discover the other-worldly tessellations of the Giant’s Causeway in the north, the recently arrived Titanic Belfast centre, a regal spot of falconry at Dromoland Castle, kiss the Blarney Stone for luck, sample the artisanal produce on offer at Cork’s English market, or wander Dublin as it revels in a rich literary history, Guinness, grand architecture and cathedrals – not only will you be riding the tracks in utmost style, you’ll have the entire nation made accessible, its wonders literally brought right to your train doorstep.

Upon completion, the Grand Hibernian will become Belmond’s seventh rail experience on offer. The train will be able to accommodate up to 40 guests within 20 elegantly appointed ensuite cabins, two restaurant cars and an observation bar car. The initial itinerary launch will comprise two-, four- and six-night journeys, allowing you to either sample a snippet or linger amid the greenery as you desire.

Until 2016, however, further Gaelic wonders are waiting to be discovered aboard the Belmond Royal Scotsman. Clad in refinery and Highland charm, the train offers 20 suites for 40 guests, as well as world-class dining. Five itineraries, departing from Edinburgh, unlock the beauty of Scotland, making a perfect accompaniment to an Emerald Isle excursion aboard the Belmond Grand Hibernian. www.belmond.com
