JAGUAR F-TYPE
Bold, beautiful, beguiling.
The F-Type is the quintessential embodiment of the Jaguar spirit, a powerful sports car engineered for both precision and sheer beauty. As the most exciting high-performance car from the Coventry manufacturer in decades, it is little wonder that it has proven to be one of its most successful models yet.
Jaguar is returning to the James Bond screen in 2015, when the latest incarnation of evil gets behind the wheel of a burnt-orange C-X75, a sleek concept released from the Jag garage solely for the film. While 007’s automotive foil may not be available in the foreseeable future, its refined sister certainly is and Australian drivers will soon have a choice of 12 derivatives.
The current offering of six will be doubled with the introduction of allwheel drive and manual transmission options, adding to the coupé and convertible choices of the classic F-Type, S and R versions.
Knowing that the hallmark of a Jag is its rear-wheel drive, the F-Type’s AWD version maintains the sports-car feel of the original with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics, a system that delivers ‘torque on demand’ only when extra traction is needed. For most driving, you’ll get to enjoy the vibrancy and precision of a rear-wheel drive, but when the weather turns foul, you’ll get the reliability of AWD when you need it most.
Introducing a manual model into a bloodline renowned for its sharp automatic gearbox, Quickshift, may seem a touch unnecessary. But for many purists, a true sports car is a manual, and it is to this select group that Jaguar has dedicated its six-speed manual, available exclusively on the all-aluminium 3.0-litre V6 – a thrilling, intuitive drive that is designed for fun.
Inside, all 12 benefit from the new technology of Electric Power Assisted Steering, an intelligent system that offers an intuitive driving experience with authentic driver feedback. The InControl infotainment system has been enhanced with an touchscreen employing gesture controls, similar to those used for smartphones, and an app which will even let users start the engine remotely and tap into its climate control system before getting into the cabin.
