Nature’s riches abound in new Aman resort
A new seaside hideaway has been unveiled on the Dominican Republic’s Playa Grande, where a long stretch of golden sand meets lush jungle – 800 hectares of it, in fact. Part of the worldwide Aman collection, Amanera’s one- and two-bedroom casitas feature raw, organic design that merges seamlessly with the surrounding jungle. Their flat, biodiverse roofs have been cultivated into green gardens, cooling down the living spaces below. The casitas capture the relaxed vibe of the Caribbean and make the most of the extraordinary ocean views from the resort’s lofty position 20 metres above the sea. Overhanging eaves shade expansive terraces with outdoor dining and lounging areas, and some have private swimming pools. The Restaurant specialises in fresh, organic dishes, or guests can eat at the beachside Club de Playa or at the golf course Clubhouse. Kayak or kitesurf in front of a dramatic mountainous background or, for those in the mood for pampering, book into Amanera’s spa – its therapies are inspired by the shamanic healing traditions of the Dominican Republic.
