INTERCONTINENTAL
Sydney Best for: Iconic harbour views Reviewed by: Cathy Wagstaff
This hotel boasts one of Sydney’s finest positions, just a short walk from Circular Quay and the Opera House. Old and new converge within the main hotel, built around the historic sandstone Treasury building. The lobby features a four-storey atrium where the building’s courtyard once was, but the heritage is complemented by contemporary design that suits its CBD locale. Really, though, InterContinental Sydney is all about the views, and a visit to the rooftop Club InterContinental Supper Club – with its 270-degree city views, from the Sydney Harbour Bridge to Potts Point – is an absolute must. My room, one of 509, features all the luxuries of a five-star hotel, including plush bathrobe, pillow menu and flat-screen TVs. The hotel spoils its guests with five dining venues, including the rooftop Supper Club, Café Opera, The Meat & Wine Co, The Cortile and, the newest destination for produce-driven cuisine, 117 dining. www.icsydney.com.au
