riva yachts
From Brigitte Bardot in saint-Tropez to the dawn of a new superyacht era, the quintessential symbol of la dolce vita is here to stay.
More than an icon of the 1960s jet set.
Few names in the yachting world are as well known as Riva. in its chic, polished-wood pleasure craft, the italian boatyard created an icon of the 1960s’ jet-set lifestyle. Rivas, such as the sleek super Florida owned by Brigitte Bardot and the Tritone of anita ekberg, were spotted across the Mediterranean, and were snapped up by movie stars, royalty and millionaire playboys alike.
nowadays, Riva has swapped wood for fibreglass and aluminium as its materials of choice, but the legacy of elegance remains. since joining the Ferretti group in 2000, it has embraced design on a larger scale, creating sleek, modern motor yachts. March 2014 saw the arrival of the Riva 122’ Mythos, the largest vessel ever built by the shipyard,
and the first to be constructed entirely from light aluminium.
The new flagship combines the vision of designers, Mauro Micheli and sergio Beretta of officina italiana Design, and the Technical and Design Department of cRn. The 37-metre yacht gives owners the option to choose between three-, four- and five-cabin configurations.
The first Mythos features three spacious cabins, a light shade of canaletto walnut and chromium-plated steel. natural light floods the salon thanks to uninterrupted glazing. on deck there’s plenty of room to soak up the sun, with a swimming platform and garage for a tender and a jet-ski. The debut Mythos also features a Jacuzzi and bar, with the yacht requiring a total of 100,000 man hours to reach perfection.
Bigger is better
Riva is now thinking even bigger. in september 2014, Ferretti group announced the creation of the superyachts Division, a dream that is starting to take shape with renderings providing a glimpse into the future. an engineering and design team is dedicated to the new project, envisaging a fleet of light alloy vessels across two different lines, in partnership with Micheli and his officina italiana Design team. like all Riva yachts, the latest marine marvels will demonstate an unerring commitment to detail, style and technology.
