Glacial beauty Jökulsárlón, Iceland

Signature Travel & Lifestyle - - Travel & Style -

Under Iceland’s midnight sun, the ancient meltwater and glistening chunks of ice of Jökulsárlón come alive in a palette of red and orange. This Glacial River Lagoon, as its name translates to, is a relatively new attraction, arising only in the early 20th century as the tongue of the nearby Breiðamerkurjökull glacier has begun to slowly melt and retreat. The lagoon is ever growing and changing, each year more impressive – no wonder this Nordic nation is known as the Land of Ice and Fire. Its other magnificent attractions include waterfalls, geysers and even diving the tectonic rift between two continents. Iceland Luxury creates bespoke itineraries that bring this elemental destination to life.
