Ocean liners once represented the pinnacle of luxury travel. Through 250 objects, Ocean Liners: Speed & Style examines the design and cultural impact of these mighty vessels, from Brunel’s 1859 steamship, Great Eastern, to the launch of Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth 2 in 1969. Among the highlights are a Cartier tiara saved from the sinking Lusitania in 1915, the Christian Dior ‘New Look’ suit worn by Marlene Dietrich on Queen Mary in 1950 and a Lucien Lelong gown worn for the maiden voyage of French liner Normandie in 1935.
