Simply Crochet

EMMA WRIGHT

-

We caught up with designer Emma Wright, the talent behind the fab garments and accessories at www.emmaknitted.co.uk. Emma told us: “I taught myself to crochet when I was around 16 and studying fashion and textiles at collage. We did a knit and crochet project but after handing in my knitted dress I immediately hit YouTube and the rest is history!

Womenswear is my favourite to design, but crochet also works so well with interiors. I love playing with colour and scale so granny squares are always my go-to. One of my fave makes is one from my graduate collection. I made an entire oversized shift dress made of crochet flowers. Another triumph was when I recently I did an entire interior collection for DY Choice which was fun, I was involved in the styling and the shoot too.

I'm addicted to Pinterest. When I start a new project or commission, I often begin with a new Pinterest board. I also love magazines – indie magazines are great for street style, which I love. I find seeing my knitwear or crochet pieces as a full outfit really helps make the best of my design.

I post on Instagram or Insta-stories everyday and keep my Twitter up to date, too. I also have a website with a blog which I update between my design work. My favourite is Instagram though – I just love telling stories through images! Find Emma at www.emmaknitted.co.uk and posting on Instagram as @emmaknitted
