TENSION

4 V-sts measure 22cm and 4 rows measure 15cm over V-st using a 15mm hook

NOTES

All rows are worked on the right side. Do not turn. The first tr in each row is worked as a Standing Treble (S-tr) rather than a ch3 to create matching edges (see abbreviati­ons).

RUG

Using Yarn A, ch36.

Row 1 (RS) Dc in second ch from hook and each ch across, do not turn. Fasten off. [35 dc] Row 2 (RS) Using Yarn B, S-tr in first dc, (skip next ch, V-st in next st, skip next ch) 11 times, tr in last dc, do not turn.

Fasten off. [2tr and 11 V-sts] Row 3 (RS) Using Yarn C, S-tr in S-tr, ( V-st in ch-1 sp of next V-st) 11 times, tr in last tr, do not turn. Fasten off. Rows 4-20 (RS) Repeat Row 3 using the following yarn sequence: Yarn D, Yarn E, Yarn F, Yarn E, Yarn D, Yarn C, Yarn B, Yarn A, Yarn B, Yarn C, Yarn D, Yarn E, Yarn F, Yarn E, Yarn D, Yarn C, Yarn B. Row 21 (RS) Join Yarn A in first st, dc in each tr and each ch-1 sp across. Fasten off. [35 dc]

TO FINISH

Tie a tight knot at the end of each Row to secure: pull the tail up and through the front loop and back through the hole created and pull tight. Weave in all ends.

TASSELS

Cut 8x30cm lengths of each yarn and separate into individual strands. Iron the strands straight using a hot iron. Using 1 length of each colour for each tassel, place a tassel in every other ch along the starting ch and in every other st along Row 21 – 18 tassels at each end. Trim neatly to approx 10cm.
