■ DMC Woolly (100% merino wool, 50g/125m), 1 ball of each:

Yarn A Light Blue (073)

Yarn B Mustard (091)

Yarn C Charcoal (076)

Yarn D Teal (077)

Yarn E Grey (124)

■ A 2.5mm (US B/1 or C/2) hook

■ A 4mm (US G/6) hook

MEASUREMEN­TS

To fit a food tin 7.5cm (3in) in diameter CHEVRON COVER

NOTES

The Cover is worked using the amigurumi method. Work in a continuous spiral without closing off each round with a slip stitch. You may find it helpful to place a marker in the first st of each round and move it up as you work.

When changing colour mid-row, twist the ends of the two colours together. Pick up the new colour in the last yrh of the previous stitch. Carry the unused strands of yarn along the top of your stitches. You will nd the Chart needed on page 93.

Using Yarn C, ch45, ss to first ch to join in a loop.

Round 1 Ch1 (does not count as st), dc in each ch around. [45 dc]

Rounds 2-3 Dc in each st around.

Rounds 4-21 Follow the Chart, repeating each row 5 times. [45 dc]

Rounds 22-24 Dc in each st around. [45 dc]

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

MINI GRANNY COVER

Make 10 squares in a variety of colour combinatio­ns.

Using Yarn A, ch5, ss to 1st ch to make a ring.

Round 1 Ch3 (counts as tr), 2tr in ring, ch2, 3tr in ring, ch2, change to Yarn B, (3tr in ring, ch2) twice, ss to top of beg ch-3 to join, fasten off.

Round 2 Join Yarn A into last corner ch-2 sp, ch3 (counts as tr), tr in same corner sp, tr in each of next 3 tr, (2tr, ch2, 2tr) in next corner sp, tr in each of next 3 tr, (2tr, ch2) in next corner sp, change to Yarn B, 2tr in same corner sp, tr in each of next 3 tr, (2tr, ch2, 2tr) in next corner sp, tr in each of next 3 tr, (2tr, ch2) back into last corner sp, ss to top of beg ch-3 to join, fasten off.

TO MAKE UP

Place the 10 squares in a 2x5 rectangle and sew the edges together, then sew together the short edges of the rectangle to make a tube.

EDGING

Round 1 Join Yarn A in any tr along one edge, ch3 (counts as tr), tr in each tr and 2tr in each ch-2 sp around, ss to first tr to join. [55 sts]

Rounds 2-3 ch1, dc in each st around, ss to first dc to join. [55 sts] Fasten off and weave in all ends. Repeat Edging along opposite edge of tube.

RAISED DIAMOND COVER

Using Yarn D, ch43.

Row 1 (RS) Tr in 4th ch and each ch across, turn. [41 sts]

Row 2 Ch3 (counts as tr throughout), tr in fl of each st across, turn.

Row 3 Ch3, *dtr in fl of 4th st to the left 2 rows below, *skip 1 st, tr in each of next 6 sts, dtr in fl of st after previous dtr 2 rows below, skip 1 st; repeat from * 4 times more, ss to top of beg ch-3 to join.

Row 4 Repeat Row 2.

Row 5 Ch3, *tr in each of next 3 sts, dtr in dtr to the right and 2 rows below, dtr in dtr to the left and 2 rows below, skip 2 sts, tr in each of next 3 sts; repeat from * 4 times more, ss to top of beg ch-3 to join.

Rows 6-8 Repeat Row 2-4.

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

TO MAKE UP

Sew together short edges to make a tube.

EDGING

Round 1 Join Yarn B in first st after seam, ch1 (does not count as st), dc in each st around, ss to first st to join, fasten off. Round 2 Join Yarn A in first st, ch1, dc in each st around, ss to first st to join, fasten off.

Round 3 Join Yarn D in first st, ch1, dc in each st around, ss to first st to join. Round 3 Ch1, dc in each st around, ss to first st to join, fasten off.

Repeat Edging at opposite end of tube.
