Embrace your inner cowgirl with this pretty pink jacket update that’s giving us strong Dolly Parton vibes. Once you’ve mastered the edging technique you’ll want to add it to everything. Yee ha!

COLLAR AND POCKETS Foundation row Using Yarn A, loosely whip stitch around the outside edge of the lower fabric layer of the collar from inside to outside. Space your stitches about 4mm apart and do not sew through the upper fabric layer, fasten off.

You will crochet into these stitches on Row 1.

COLLAR

With a 3mm hook and using Yarn A and a sharp needle, join at the end of the collar with the underside facing.

Row 1 (WS) Ss in each st to end, turn. Change to 4mm hook.

Row 2 Ch3 (counts as tr), 2tr in st at base of ch, 3tr in each st to end, fasten off and weave in ends.

POCKETS

Repeat the Collar instructio­ns for the Pocket Edgings.

HEART PATCHES MAKE 2

PATCH

Make a template from a piece of paper measuring 12x11cm, fold in half along the 12cm side and draw half of the heart to fill the paper. Cut out, unfold and trace around this piece on leather.

Mark punch holes on the WS of the Heart approx 1.5cm from the edge, starting with marks at the bottom point and top heart crescent. Mark 8 more points evenly on each side approx 1.5cm apart. This will give you 18 points in total. Use 3-4mm setting on a belt punch to punch each of these.

EDGING

Round 1 Hold the Heart with RS facing and the bottom point of the Heart away from you. With Yarn B and a 3mm hook, start at the hole to the left of the bottom point, 3dc into this hole and next 3 holes, 4dc in next 2 holes, 3dc in next 2 holes, 1dc in top centre hole, 3dc in next 2 holes, 4dc in next 2 holes, 3dc in the next 4 holes, (3dc, ch1, 3dc) in hole at bottom point, ss to first dc, change to Yarn A. [59 dc, ch-1 sp]

Round 2 Ch1 (does not count as st), 11dc, 2dc in next st, (3dc, 2dc in next st) twice, 5dc, dc2tog over heart crescent centre, 5dc, 2dc in next st, (3dc, 2dc in next st) Whip stitch around the collar and pocket to make a foundation row for the edgings. twice, 15dc, (dc, ch1, dc) in corner ch-1 sp, 3dc, ss to first dc, change to Yarn B. [66dc, ch-1 sp]

Round 3 Ch1 (does not count as st), dc in next st, *(dc, ch3, dc) in next st, dc in next st; repeat from * 12 more times, dc in next st, skip centre st, 2dc, *(dc, ch3, dc) in next st, dc in next st; rep from * 14 more times, skip next dc, (dc, ch3, dc) in corner ch-sp, *dc in next st, (dc, ch3, dc) in next st; rep from *, ss to first st, fasten off and weave in ends.

TO FINISH

Using Yarn B, sew Hearts onto jacket through ch-3 sps of Round 3.
